The Women and Wealth Project will officially end on 31 December 2011, however the businesses still need your support.
MDSF
- In June 2009, MDSF worked with international fashion designer Bibi Russell, "Bibi for WE" products are now marketed and sold internationally.
- In 2010, a long-term technical support partnership was formed with Singapore International Foundation (SIF) and Mr. Seimi Wangsai. SIF and Mr Wangsai have generously donated their time to help the women of MDSF expand their design, production, marketing and management skills.
- MDSF has joined the Artisans Association of Cambodia, a Fair Trade Association that supports over 50 handicraft groups working across Cambodia.
- MDSF took part in the AAC supported Trade Fair in Siem Reap in January 2011 and the Friends Fun Fair in Phnom Penh and Asian Hope International School Fairs in February 2011.
- MDSF will take part in the Women’s International Group of Cambodia Christmas Fair to be held in Phnom Penh on November 27th 2011 in the Grand Ballroom of the Intercontinental Hotel.
- MDSF has clients in the UK, Canada, USA, Germany, Singapore, Australia, Japan, and Thailand.
SLC
- SLC supports diversified subsidiary projects, such as a handicrafts shop managed by other HIV-positive women.
- The WE Shop sells the WE brand and other products made by vulnerable women throughout the country.
- SLC has provided small loans to other PLWHA in the community to launch their own small income-generating enterprises.
- A high level visit was paid to SLC by Mr. Toshihiro Kitsuka from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan in March 2010 The SLC team briefed Mr Kitsuka on the business and acknowledged the support of the Government of Japan for The Women and Wealth Project. A field visit was undertaken to meet with the community of women living with HIV.
- SLC has received technical support from Catalyst Management Services, based in Bangalore.
- SLC has clients ranging from the nonprofit organisations to the corporate sector in India.
WD
- Weaving Destination employs 47 rescued women and girls, and 6 boys.
- The group has launched the Srirampur Stitching Center, which employs 16 women and girls in cutting and stitching of end user products such as dresses for local markets.
- WD has partnered with various Fair Trade businesses to promote and market its products worldwide.
ICAAP
- The WWP businesses were promoted at the 10th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) held in Busan, Korea in August 2011. ICAAP gathers people from various locations and backgrounds in Asia and the Pacific region to share knowledge, skills, ideas, and research findings related to HIV and AIDS.
- WWP participated in the 9th ICAAP held in Bali Indonesia in 2009.Each WWP group had the chance to display and successfully sell its products, as well as explain WWP’s rationale and impact, to hundreds of Congress participants.
- Representatives from WWP were invited in a pre-Congress event called the Court of Women, which explored the connections between women’s experiences of human trafficking and HIV.
- PDA staff organized a one-day workshop for WWP participants to share their accomplishments, strengths, and weaknesses with other WWP members, and to work together to develop action plans for strengthening operations in the future.
