Training

SLC Training

A team of Singapore International Volunteers (SIV) from the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) visited SLC during March- April 2010. They held a five day work shop on Communication Media and Print Production. This included designing forms and processes that will help SLC track its orders, developing a creative brief on the jobs they work on, to have time lines formatted, and to work out the costing and quotation in a prescribed format. One of the team members also offered to train the graphic designer in new design techniques. The SLC team found the interaction and work shop fruitful. SIF returned in early 2011 and undertook an audit review.

MDSF Training

Training workshops were conducted by SIF’s Singapore International Volunteer professionals from the LASALLE College in Singapore, during November/December 2010 and in 2011 during February/March and October.

The workshops focused on market analysis along with design components and giving products unique characteristics to increase competiveness in the marketplace. Cultural elements and traditional techniques were used in the contemporary interpretations of products. Colours and trends were explained along with branding and packaging and demonstrating the effect of this. Mr. Seimi Wangsai visited MDSF twice in 2010, in February and September. These visits were periods of intensive work with MDSF with the aim of increasing production quality and designing and making bags for the Japanese market. Visits were made to the market to source materials, different ways of using fabric were explored and contemporary designs were identified and made.
